An assignment with a word limit
Load the short draft and replace it with your own text. Watch the count while editing, then confirm the final number in the submission platform because token rules differ.

What this collection can and cannot do
- The counter splits words on whitespace. It does not segment Chinese or Japanese words, and UTF-16 character counts can count an emoji as multiple units.
- Reading time assumes 200 words per minute and rounds up. It is not a speech timer or a measured reading speed.
- Cleanup removes blank lines and indentation. It does not preserve document layout, format code, fix grammar, rewrite sentences or sort lines. Deduplication is case-sensitive.
Frequently asked questions
Do these tools rewrite my text?
No. The word counter measures text without changing it. The cleaner changes whitespace and can remove repeated lines, but does not rewrite sentences or correct grammar.
Should I clean text before counting words?
You can, but repeated spaces do not increase the word count. Removing duplicate lines can change the count because it removes repeated content.
Are these tools suitable for code?
The text cleaner may remove meaningful indentation. For JSON code or configuration, use the JSON formatter in the developer tools collection.
Can I remove blank lines without changing other spacing?
Not independently. The cleaner always trims line edges, collapses spaces and tabs, and removes blank lines. Only duplicate-line removal can be switched off.
Can I count Chinese words or emoji accurately?
The counter uses whitespace-separated tokens and UTF-16 code units. It is not a language-aware word segmenter or a visual emoji counter.
Can I clean text for Notion or a classroom worksheet?
Yes, for plain-text lists and notes. Copy the cleaned result into your editor and restore any needed layout there. There is no Notion integration or document export.
