When to use it

What to know before you use it
Words are counted as whitespace-separated tokens. Languages written without spaces need a different segmentation method. Character counts use JavaScript UTF-16 code units, so some emoji count as more than one. Reading time is an estimate, not a measured reading speed.

How are words counted?
The tool trims the text and splits it on whitespace. Multiple spaces and line breaks separate tokens; punctuation attached to a word does not create another word.
Are spaces included in the character count?
Characters includes whitespace. The Without whitespace count removes spaces, tabs, line breaks, and other whitespace before counting.
Why can the count differ from another app?
Other tools may use different rules for punctuation, hyphenated words, languages without spaces, or emoji. Use your submission platform’s count when a strict limit applies.
